Inaugural RMF Golf Tournament Recap

The inaugural RMF Golf Tournament held on Monday, October 4 2021 was a huge success! It was a beautiful day filled with golf, friends and family sharing memories and stories about Randy, and a community honoring his legacy and achieving what we all came together to do – raise funds to give back to the four pillars of this foundation: youth sports programs; vocational trade opportunities; families battling cancer; and research towards the eradication of cancer.

First and foremost we’d like to give a huge thanks to everyone who came out to play, volunteer, and support the event in one way or another. All those who sponsored a hole, our beverage sponsor Virginia Eagle Distributing Co, our breakfast sponsor Chic Fil A at Celebrate Virginia (Rt. 17), our lunch sponsor the Fredericksburg Franchise of Carrabba’s Italian Grill , and our many Silver Sponsors (Viking Steel, Falls Run Stone & Stucco, Marshall Pools, Mr. Lindy Henderson, Fredericksburg Maintenance LLC, Kiwanis of Fredericksburg, Mr. Jeremy Bullock and Family, Atlantic Coast Mortgage, Precision Grounds and Landscape Management LLC, Hupka Team Property Management, Hupka Team Real Estate, Mr. Pat Voit, Devils Backbone Brewing, Helping Hands Pest Control, Sullies Fleet Service Inc, and Dickerson Equipment). A special thanks to our Gold Sponsor Tommy Wallace Electrical (Alan Merryman), and a very special thanks to our Inaugural Title Sponsor DLR contracting. Also a special thanks to Holly Perreault of Xpression Photography for donating her time to capture and edit all the great photos we have from our Inaugural event. We could not achieve all that we did without each and every person who came together to make this event a huge success. Thank you all.

The RMF board is very excited about what has been accomplished in Randy’s name so far and couldn’t me more pleased to announce what we are doing with all the funds raised from what is sure to be the first of many RMF Golf Tournaments. The breakout of where the funds raised directly align to the pillars of our mission statement are as follows:

Youth Sports Programs: $2,500.00 have been allocated to sponsoring youth sports teams in our community.

Vocational Trade Opportunities: We are very excited to announce the establishment of a partnership with Germanna Community College to initiate scholarship opportunities through their Vocational Trades Program totaling $3,750.00. These scholarship(s) will be in Randy’s name and be awarded for the 2022/2023 academic year.

Families Battling Cancer & Community Outreach: $1,000.00 have been allocated for donation to Mary Washington Hospice Care.

Research towards the Eradication of Cancer: A $5,000.00 check has been issued to the Johns Hopkins Medical Research in Randy’s name.

This is only our first event, and the funds raised from the Inaugural Golf Tournament are a testament to the many lives Randy touched as well as the potential the foundation and this community has to honor Randy’s legacy in an everlasting way by giving back.

What’s Next:

Be on the lookout as these funds are expended for updates with stories on how WE are making an impact in the community.
